Ski touring on Senja is still a little insider tip.
Just 350 km north of the Arctic Circle is Senja, Norway's second largest island. In addition to the well-known Norwegian ski touring areas such as Lyngen or Lofoten, this island is perfect for anyone looking for a special "mountain high". The best time for this: between March and May. Here we can ski down to the deep blue sea, enjoy powder snow slopes or climb exposed summit ridges. From the hotel we simply look for the best spots for ourselves by car. Just like our lodge is the perfect spot: Norwegian ambience, real coziness and excellent food. Here you can switch off and experience touring in a whole new way.
Tour schedule
1. Day
The flight from Munich to Tromso takes around 4.40 hours. We can catch our first glimpses of the north and the mountain landscape carved out by the sea as we approach the airport. The airport in Tromso is pleasantly small and our rental cars are usually already waiting for us.
From here, we set off on a three-hour drive through the beautiful Norwegian landscape. You can't help but be amazed and the time flies by until we arrive at our beautiful accommodation.
After a comfortable check-in, we meet up in the evening for dinner together, followed by a tour briefing and a relaxed end to the evening.
2. - 6. Day
The program includes ski touring at its best. Ski tours on Senja are not yet as well known as Lyngen, Lofoten etc. We have a huge choice, where we usually leave our tracks on the mountain alone. This is a privilege and my idea of ski touring in Norway. I adapt the ski tours for you according to your wishes and ability. After a great day on the mountain, we also have the opportunity to relax in the whirlpool or sauna until we all meet up again for dinner in the evening.
There is no room for detailed information on routes and planning here. I don't want to give away my tours either, as they are reserved for my guests and the planning depends very much on the weather and local conditions. I ask for your understanding. I am always available for questions.
7. Day
A wonderful week in my luggage. A smile all the way to the back of our ears. So we leave beautiful Torsken and drive back to Tomso.

Here are a few thoughts from my side on why I chose Senja..........
Ski touring in Norway is generally just an insane activity, to be honest. So far north, at the gates of the North Pole. Every area has its own charm.
What I love about Senja is that it has simply gone past all the hype. Most of the time you're on your own here and that's important to me if I want to offer my guests ski tours this far north. It should be an experience and not just standing in line and skiing down the slopes until you finally reach the summit and take a selfie. No, you've come to the wrong place.
I love experiencing the mountains, it's also usually a lot more work for me as I have to take great care of the tours before and during the trip. But it's also my passion. Of course, we can also plan classic tours here in Senja, depending on what the group wants, that's no problem. But I'm more focused on getting the best out of the slopes and snow conditions for my guests.
This is another one of my plus points in Senja, because even when visibility is poor, you can make the most of the day.
